Uber vs Hailo – The Battle of the Taxi Apps

A lot of people use mobile apps to book taxis these days. It is a very convenient and efficient way to book a taxi without the need to pick up the phone. Uber and Hailo are two of the most popular apps in the market and they have been battling for territory across the globe.

Uber has 160,000 drivers using their app and as of 2015 have received $2.8 billion in funding. Both apps have garnered controversy for interfering with local taxi services, resulting in Uber being banned in Germany, Spain and Thailand. There is also criticism regarding the quality of background checks on drivers using these apps, as well as question marks over apparent surge pricing.

Both companies have major plans for future development. Uber are open to driverless cars if it means taxis would be cheaper for their customers, and Hailo have teamed up with a team of futurologists to help predict how cities will look in the future.
